The Faith and Life Team oversees, promotes, and facilitates the health of the Ontario MB Conference and its churches. This task is accomplished through nurturing churches and their leaders in a variety of ways, sustaining our confessional foundation, helping churches clarify and practise their unique calling, and facilitating the training of church leaders for ministry.
Faith and Life Chair - Richard is the lead pastor of Glencairn MB church in Kitchener since Dec 2013. For more than 26 years, Richard has served in a variety of pastoral positions, as Youth Pastor, Associate in a church plant, lead pastor for 14 years at Evergreen, and served as the Ontario Conference Minister. For many of those years, he has served on both provincial and national MB denominational boards, and currently serves as chair of the Faith and Life Team, and the Ontario rep on the Canadian Board of Faith and Life. His passion is to equip every believer to be a missionary in their sphere of influence, and to see the multiplication of disciples. Richard has his BTh from Tyndale, and part way through his 100 year plan to complete his Masters. His lovely wife Laura has partnered with Richard in ministry for 30 years, including the discipling of their 3 adult boys. For fun, Richard enjoys playing squash, golf, and riding motorcycles.
Executive Director - Ed assumed the role of Executive Director in 2012. Prior to that he was in Pastoral ministry for 25 years. Most recently he served as a location Leader for Southridge Community Church. He planted Gateway Christian Fellowship in 2000 and thoroughly enjoyed that adventure until they merged with Southridge in 2010. Earlier he served in pastoral roles at Scott Street MB Church in St. Catharines and began his ministry at Cornerstone Community Church in Dartmouth N.S. in 1986. Ed is happily married to high school sweetheart Karin and they have three daughters, Kiersten (married to Eric) Renee and Breanna. Ed has sensed a clear call of God to give leadership to the Ontario Conference. With a deep passion to see churches unite around a clear vision - he has been working diligently to facilitate collaboration, provide accountability and encourage blessing. Although each church is unique, Ed believes that God is doing a new work in them while they focus on health and discipleship. He longs to see many people won for Jesus Christ in Ontario. Ed acquired a Bachelor of Religious Studies from the MB Bible College in Winnipeg, a BA (History) from the University of Winnipeg, and a Master of Divinity from MB Biblical Seminary when it was still situated in California. Ed strives to be a life long learner and is a certified COACH. He has a deep passion to empower the next generation of leaders and recently helped to create the Leaders Collective.
Team Member - Dave has been the founding planter and senior pastor of Life Point Church in Oshawa Ontario for the past 18 years. He has been passionately focused on reaching non churched people and has led his team through various developments including contemporary and multisite ministry, and the renovation build of a community centre. Dave was drawn to the MB family because of the great focus on church planting and evangelism. He has a B.A. in philosophy and psychology from the University of Waterloo, a Master’s of Christian Studies from Canadian Theological Seminary in biblical studies and counseling, along with an M.Ed. and Ed.D. from the University of Toronto in adult education and philosophy. He is married to Cheryl, with three grown children, Charity, Aurora and Jefferson who are either in or tracking towards ministry. Dave loves to travel, and is also a Padre with his local Canadian Forces regiment where he can very openly share his faith. On the side, he is a bit of a P90X fitness fanatic.
Team Member - Jeff has been the lead pastor at Evergreen Height Christian Fellowship in Simcoe, ON since September of 2014. Previously, Jeff worked in the downtown core of Hamilton, ON with homeless men that are struggling with addiction and mental health. He also served many years in various pastoral capacities (youth and young adults). Jeff has a passion for discipleship, and sharing the Gospel message through preaching and community. Jeff views serving on the Ontario board as a way to participate in the broader context of supporting our churches in Ontario to make disciples. Married to Kerri, He is dad to three amazing kids Julia (16), Reagan (15) and Tate (12). In his spare time Jeff loves to spend time with his family, or take in a good hockey game.
Team Member - Bill became a believer through the ministry of the Navigators. He served in the Navigators at the University of Guelph, University of Winnipeg and Calgary over a period of 6 years. Bill served as associate Pastor in 2 churches for a total of 13 years. He was also the lead pastor in 3 different churches for a total of 18 years. In May of 2012 Bill joined the Faith & Life Team. Bill and his wife Sharon have been married for 40 years in October, and have four sons as well as 2 grandchildren. Bill enjoys photography, reading, and using magical illusions for teaching and entertaining.
Team Member - As the Associate Pastor at Mountain Park Church, Matt is passionate about making disciples and seeing people living all of life on mission with Jesus. After meeting his wife Cristina on MBmission’s TREK program in 98/99 he completed a B.A. at Columbia Bible College in Worship Arts as well as Biblical Studies and has been in full-time church ministry ever since. Matt and Cristina love being parents to four amazing kids - Aaralyn, Ellarie, Silas and Mia. Matt and his brother Drew are in their 6th season of also owning and operating a burgeoning wedding photography and film studio, and in any moments of spare time he loves watching and playing hockey.
